Lisa and Chad..what to say that hasnt already been said. This couple booked me for their engagement session, which can be seen here: L&C Engagement Session we all had an awesome time and I knew this wedding was going to set the bar for me as I try to do every wedding.

Lisa and Chad have been together 10+ years and both in the Veterinarian field and through hard work and zip codes they have remained together through all that. They couldn't have picked more picturesque locations. Dow Gardens for the ceremony at The H Hotel in downtown Midland . I was in awe of the locations. Simply awesome to photograph and provided a great back drop for my ideas.

I wanted to thank the Frank and Bartner families for their hospitality and kind nature not to mention Lisa and Chad, who I wish the best. Thank you for viewing and enjoy.

My first nationally published photograph!! // AP Magazine

Alternative Press Magazine has long since been a magazine for the so called "underground music" crowd. Ive been photographing Hardcore shows since I was 18 years old. I never really thought it would take me anywhere, it was more or less to have fun...something I did for the bands and maybe some free shirts for trade or just to have the band be stoked on some photographs of themselves.

I was approached by Griffin of the band Shut In which is a side project of Danny from Oceano: Oceano 2012 Promo Session//Chicago, IL He was asking if I had any live photos of Danny which I had taken quite a few images the last time I saw the band. Once he told me the images were going to be in AP magazine I was beyond stoked.

Fast forward to September and the issue has been released. This is my first nationally published photograph. Ive had a few published in local publications but never to this magnitude or audience. Its the first part of a 4 part blended photo above the "SH" I kept this kind of hush hush and may not seem like a big deal to some but I feel like I'm finally working my up! Big thing to come soon. All smiles.

Justin Lim. Old Five and Dime Sign Company // Fort Wayne, IN

Justin Lim. He is the one man operation of Old Five and Dime Sign Company. Justin is a very talented and young pinstriper and sign painter. I contacted Justin after seeing his work on the store front window's of a few Fort Wayne local tattoo shops. What really blew me away was the work he did for Black Anvil Tattoo

Stepping into his home was like walking into an antique store. Every thing was decorated from a 1950s standpoint. Justin is such a humble dude and his work is impressive to say the least. I have always admired pinstriping as an art form but after watching Justin, studying his craft as he painted a Japanese Hannya on the back of an open face silver sparkle helmet for another project I have going I was in awe. I honestly cant say enough good about what he did. Dinero Moneybagz // Fort Wayne, IN.

I first discovered Dinero Moneybagz from the "My City" video made for the organization known as "A Better Fort" and Hip Hop 4 the City. Once the video was released it blew up all over social network sites and I was hooked on the song and it made me feel good to be a native to Fort Wayne. Something about Dinero Moneybagz stood out to me. His style grabbed me and I did research to find this kid and Im glad I did.

Having contact over a span of a couple of months we booked the shoot. The direction I was going for fit his style and we laughed and told jokes more than shoot the session I think. Everything worked out awesome and Im so pleased with this shoot. Please do yourself and favor and check out his music

Oceano. Earache Records // Chicago, IL

Once Oceano released their first full length "Depths" I was sold on this band. To think of the many hours of driving with this album on repeat brings back memories. Once they played a show Fort Wayne I was like a little kid at Christmas time singing every audible word I could while shooting as many frames as possible.

Transform to present day and I have created a small relationship with a few members of the band. I brought up doing their newest promos and Adam(singer) was into it...and then the band announced they were calling it quits. I was personally bummed but its nothing new for me being part of hardcore since I was 16 you tend to realize that all the best bands break up. Then I was contacted by Danny letting me know that they were in fact back up and running months later and to come out to their Chicago show and shoot photos for them. I dropped everything I had for the day and coordinated doing promos that day as well.

The direction was the get away from the typical "death core" promos of the everyone looking tough with horrible lighting and a triangle posing, It can work but thats not what we wanted to do. I wanted to show the band being dudes when theyre not on stage. Its something I really enjoyed about the Slayer "Seasons In the Abyss" liner photos when I was 11 and childhood inspiration comes into this.

These were shot in Lomard, IL at DMK burger bar and the band will begin writing a new album after the Scream it like you mean it tour which should be released on Earache Records Danny(right) likes to be a scumbag and makes these faces

Kelly Roudabush // Bloomington Indiana

Kelly approached my about a session for head shots for publications and online marketing for her career as a Flutist. After reading through her bio I realized how accomplished she was. Impressive to say the least. Here is just a little preview:

"Kelly Nivison Roudabush is a versatile flutist with expertise in both modern and historical flute performance. She is a doctorial candidate in historical flute performance at IU’s Early Music Institute as well as other degrees including but not limited to, minors in music education and modern flute performance from IU and additional degrees from Florida State University and Appalachian State University. She teaches privately in Raleigh, NC and directs the Raleigh Area Flute Association Silver Pipes Flute Choir. Her working background while in Bloomington, IN includes, but is not limited to performing on piccolo with the Indiana Wind Symphony and the Southern Indiana Wind Ensemble and section flute with the Bloomington Symphony Orchestra. Kelly is an up-and-coming name in the early music community. She has been a semi-finalist in the National Flute Association’s Baroque Flute Artist competition three times and won the National Flute Association’s Baroque Masterclass Performers competition in 2011."
The session went awesome, shot in Bloomington on the IU campus. I wanted to thank Kelly for the session and best wishes on her future in Raleigh, NC. Also let me add that I learned a few things on this shoot as well 1) ALWAYS carry multiple synch cords for your triggers and 2) NEVER ever leave a Vagabond Mini lithium battery in a hot car for a week...oh life lessons. thank you and enjoy!

Matthew Schmoll // Fort Wayne, IN

Ive known Matt for some time and this is the second time I have shot him. He is an awesome kid with such a good attitude on life, It's humbling. Matt has been into skateboarding and music for some time so I most definitely incorporated that into the shots I took. Before this shoot I really sat down and mapped out my shots/poses etc. I even drew up a story board on paper which was something I've never done but I'm now a believer cause it worked for sure. I woke up knowing that I had to set the bar with this shoot. Its 2012 and I, as a photographer needed to progress and shine through and I am so stoked at the final product. success achieved! Matthew informed me that he has been accepted to Ball State for Journalism! Proud of this kid. I wish him the best of luck in the future. ...and my favorite shot from out session from 2010...

...is it shameless self promotion?

Ive been weighing my options on this matter and the conclusions Ive drawn are that as a working photographer I have to market myself and Im going to have to ask for help somewhere along the way or Im not going to be able to make it. bottom line! Ive barely cut my teeth in the photo industry. Ive booked maybe 45-50 clients in three years. That may sound like a lot to some and I appreciate every one of them. They were all fun in their own right and I set out to up the bar every time I go out and shoot clients so I can stay one step above the rest but with zero marketing I am barely treading water.

In 2009 I focused most of my efforts to photograph abandoned architecture, schools and the like. Basically get in the car and drive to the most rural of locations to see what I could find. This proved itself to be fruitful in most cases. Always loving to educate I was drawn to the abandonment of old one room schools and multi-room schools. I sense started a project that spanned almost 2 years with intend of publishing a book called Brick by Brick. Having shot over 180 abandoned schools in the state of Indiana. I sat down for layout and looking at self publishing and realized I just dont have the financial means to make this work and still provide for my family and live life. I sense started with a site called Kickster.com to help lauch this book.

So far only one backer. Im getting there with hope that I can pull this off. I have also started selling prints of mine from the various schools Ive shot over the past two years with the proceeds going to printing and shipping with the remainder going to fund the book. I signed up with Instaproofs.com which I have sold one print so far.

I have even sense started a proper URL which directly link the viewer to this blog which I use just about as much as any proper website until I can get things up and going with a legit layout, folders and info. This will work for now.

No one ever said it was going to be easy. No one ever said the world would come catering to me but I will hustle and work my rear end off to accomplish and establish myself in this photography world with the tools I have and continue to persevere no matter how small the mark...that mark has been made!
